Hi, I'm Nick.
I spent a decade as a high-end art installer before I ever picked up a TV bracket. That's the foundation of Cliff Hanger. I run it with my partner Shannae, who looks after quoting, scheduling and everything that isn't on a ladder. Bigger projects bring a small, trusted crew I've worked with for years.
How Cliff Hanger started.
I started as an art installer. A decade of gallery hangs, oversized canvases, sculptural pieces, diptychs above stairwells and commissioned work in private homes. The kind of installs where the piece is fragile, valuable, sometimes irreplaceable — and where a millimetre matters.
About five years ago I moved into TV installation. A TV on a wall deserves the same thinking as a painting: level to the eye, cables out of sight, finished so it looks like it was always meant to be there. Once you've worked that way on art, the standard is hard to lower for anything else. Brackets included, walls left clean, finishes considered.
Other installers and removalists started ringing me when high-end art was part of a fitout. They'll do the furniture and the joinery, but they hand the art portion to us, because fine art hanging is its own discipline. Interior designers do the same — they trust us with the last five percent of the styling, the pieces the room is built around.
Mirrors, bedheads, soundbars, Frame TVs and decorative panels followed because the standard travels. Same care for a six-figure piece as for a TV in the family room.
Around then the admin started taking over from the install work — quoting, invoicing, scheduling, the socials. Shannae took it on so I could stay on the wall. She's why the messages get answered while I'm up a ladder, and why a quote comes back the same day instead of three weeks later. Still a two-person business. That's how we like it.
Today the work covers the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I'm still on the tools for most jobs. When something needs more hands on deck, the small, trusted crew I bring has been with me for years. Same standard, same care, whoever's on the wall.
What you'll see on the day.
Five steps, in this order, every job. No surprises in the living room, no half-day disappearance to chase a bracket.
On time, with the brackets, hardware and the right drill bits already loaded. We walk the room with you before anything comes out of the ute.
Drop sheets down before any tools come out. Floors covered, furniture covered, edges taped where they need to be.
Stud-finder, laser level, pencil marks you can see. Nothing goes in the wall until the height and centre are right.
Neat holes, no over-drilling, no hairline cracks, no patching to chase later. Cables run in-wall where the build allows, or routed tight behind the furniture where it doesn't.
Dust vacuumed, sheets folded, the off-cuts and packaging leave with us. You get the room back as it was, with one thing now seated, levelled and signed off.
What done properly means.
Nick leads every install.
Brackets and hardware aren't an upsell.
Drop sheets first, before any tools come out.
We clean up before we leave.
The other half of Cliff Hanger.
Shannae runs the back end. Quotes out, invoices in, schedules kept tight, the inbox properly answered. If you've had a same-day reply from Cliff Hanger, that was Shannae.
She also looks after the socials and the website. Nick brings the install; Shannae brings everything else a small business needs.
The finisher you can hand the last 5% to.
Most of our work now comes from interior designers, stylists and project managers running multi-room installs. Designers and removalists often subcontract the art portion to us — they know fine art hanging is its own discipline. We've also handled new apartment developments where every wall has to be photo-ready by handover, and venues where the install has to happen around trading hours. Same standard, whether it's Nick personally, or Nick with a small trusted crew.
Designers and stylists get trade rates on multi-job installs, settled once the scope is clear. Shannae replies on quotes within 24 hours, with photos and measurements requested up front so nothing slows down on the day.

We'll travel for the right job. If you're outside these areas, tell us where you are and we'll work it out.
